30 Day Book Challenge: Day 13

Hello my lovelies. Today we are continuing with the 30 day book challenge started by The Chronicles of Radiya

Today we discuss: Who is your favourite author?

Cassandra Clare. Hands down. I love all her books and she keeps writing them! With other authors you’re always on edge wondering if they are actually ever going to write another book or if they have left you. There is a book series that I started where the author wrote two books, ended on a cliff hanger then never wrote another one. WHY?!?!?! Why would you to that to your readers? I’m left thinking that maybe the author died. (I really hope not! That would be terrible! And I don’t just mean that as a reader, I really hope she’s ok!)  But Ms. Clare just keeps putting books out. Side point: People keeps saying that its “too much” that she should stop writing about the Shadowhunter world because its “too much” and just the “same thing”. Where are you basing this? She wrote two series that are totally different from each other and the second series was better than the first! The world that she has created is so detailed she can tell so many different stories from that. Do you have any idea how many stories take place in our world? Is it too much?! Are you sick of reading about our world because people keep writing stories about it? IS IT TOO MUCH EARTH?!?!?  Frustrates me, guys!

Now for you who are unfamiliar with Ms. Clare’s works we have

The Mortal Instruments: 2007- Present Day (as of when first published), New York

1. City of Bones
2. City of Ashes
3. City of Glass
4. City of Fallen Angels
5. City of Lost Souls
6. City of Heavenly Fire (*To be released May 2014*)

The Infernal Devices: 1878 – Victorian Era, London

1. Clockwork Angel
2. Clockwork Prince
3. Clockwork Princess

The Dark Artifices: 2012 – 5 years after The Mortal Instruments series, Los Angeles

1. Lady Midnight (*To be Released March 2015*)

THL (Title for series hasn’t been released. We just get the initials.): 1903, unknown location

I wasn’t really sure if to include TLH or not because there is no release date or really anything to say about it yet. Cassandra Clare has said she has outlined the series and is working on it along with the fifth and final series she plans to write in the Shadowhunter world which is known only as the “secret project”. It is rumored the “secret project” will take place three years after The Dark Artifices series.  Giving her an grand total of 18 novels planned and 8 already published.

She also has a collection of short stories about Magnus Bane she co-wrote with Sarah Rees Brennan. I have read two of these so far: Number 1 and 4 because I didn’t know the proper order. Oops. They’re short stories so it made little difference though. They still made sense. They are ok, but you can tell that it’s not just Ms. Clare writing. If you love to read, you can just tell when it’s your author. They are currently only available on eBook but in theory when they are all written a hard copy of them all together will also be released.

The Bane Chronicles:

1. What Really Happened in Peru
2. The Runaway Queen
3. Vampires, Scones and Edmund Herondale
4. The Midnight Heir
5. The Rise of the Hotel Dumort (*To be Released August 2013*)
6. Saving Raphael Santiago (*To be Released September 2013*)
7. No Immortal Can Keep a Secret (*To be Released October 2013*)
8. The Course of True Love (And First Dates) (*To be Released November 2013*)
9. What to Buy a Shadowhunter Who Has Everything (And You’re Not Officially Dating Anyway) (*To be Released December 2013*)
10. The Last Stand of the New York Institute (*To be Released January 2014*)

Ok this turned really long! I summary, love Cassandra Clare, she writes A LOT, go get all the already published works of hers and read them. Bye Guys!

  1. I love Cassandra Clare so much! When I first got the Infernal Devices I was unsure if she could top the Mortal Instruments, but she did! I loved them even more! I can’t wait for her next books to come out and I agree as long as she tells it well, I want to see more of the Shadowhunter world! 🙂
